What thermoregulation actually means
Thermoregulation is a material's ability to help your body hold its own temperature, whatever the conditions around it. Put it on, sit on it and it works with you, not against you, the same way it's worked for sheep for thousands of years.
Warm when it’s cold
Wool fibre isn’t a flat strand - it’s crimped and coiled, almost springy under a microscope. Millions of those coils, packed together, trap tiny pockets of air. Air is a poor conductor of heat. Trapped close to your skin, it holds your own warmth in and keeps the cold out. That’s why our range works as well at the tail end of autumn as it does in the depths of winter — one layer, doing the job of several.
Cool when it’s not
The real trick is what happens when you warm up. Unlike synthetic insulation, which just traps heat and holds it, wool fibre can absorb close to a third of its own weight in moisture without feeling wet against your skin.
Wearing or sitting on sheepskin on a day that starts cold and warms up fast, the fibre pulls sweat and warm, damp air away from your skin as your body heats. It doesn't fight your temperature, it follows it. That's why you can enjoy sheepskin from a frosty morning through to full sun without overheating.
A quiet side effect: naturally antimicrobial
Because moisture doesn’t sit and stagnate in wool the way it does in synthetic fibres, sheepskin is naturally antimicrobial. Less moisture held against the skin means less odour, less bacteria and easy maintenance.
